An invitation to contact us.

For 12 years we have been giving workshops (about 700 days) to participants coming from different professionnal backgrounds , mainly teachers (nursery, primary and high schools), social workers, staff from youth organizations and qualified trainers.

We worked at the University of Peace (Belgium) for 6 years giving workshops about team building and conflict solving.  We also have experience in work with international organizations and multicultural groups.

In our workshops we always try to balance practical and theoretical parts, body in action and mind. Cooperative games are favourites because they develop trust, solidarity, respect, self-confidence combining pleasure and challenges to be met.

Training children to negotiate

In their families (and later at the nursery and primary school) children become aware of their own power, develop their basic attitudes towards others. Having happy or painful experiences, they will find their own ways to meet others and become part of a group.

The way a child will negotiate as an adult (and as an adolescent) will strongly depend on the way he negotiated before as a child in front of a grown-up clear in his needs and messages. Negotiating can be learnt a lot sooner  than generally thought:  children can learn basic skills for example how to make choices, exchange toys, consider consequences of their actions, use words to express feelings…

Exercises and games will help participants to create conditions for children (from three to twelve) to learn how to solve their problems and disputes and share their power with other children.

Public

Parents, grand-parents, nursery and primary school teachers, anyone in contact with children from 3 to 12.

Objectives

1.        Lead adults to share and think about their own ways to solve problems

2.        Increase the number of possible reactions in challenging situations

3.        Learn a method to teach problem solving to children according to their ages

4.        Learn negotiation skills: reach all-winners/no losers solutions relying on the basic needs of everyone

An example of a 3 or 4 day-workshop

.Day 1: Exercises and games to learn how to use a game -centred approach in adult-child relations. Différent ways to react facing a child who has got a problem.

Day 2: Are children familiar with all the basic concepts necessary to solve problems? Which ones? How can we check? How can we teach them?

Day 3 (et 4): A conflict-solving method and how to adapt it to different ages. Work based on situations brought by the participants.
