COOKEED RABBIT IN A BEER SAUCE. The dish of Philippeville. With the local dish of our town, an other way of discovering the culinary gastronomy of our region. At the initiative of the newspaper “NOUVELLE GAZETTE”, and the restaurant owners together with the merry and gastronomic fraternity “L’Ambassade du lapin à la bière” a regional promotion campaign was established having the following objectives : - First, to improve the tourist relations and let people discover the area and stimulate the sightseeing and tourism in general. -Secondly, to enable tourists, holiday-makers, Belgians and foreign visitors to discover the local art of cooking as well as its regional dish “Cooked rabbit in a beer sauce” along with the famous beer “SCHWENDI” called after the first governor of the town during the reign of Philippe II of Spain. Tourists and holidaymakers can enjoy the regional dish « Rabbit in beer sauce » and a glass of the local Schwendi beer, in all the restaurants displaying the above shown label and/or poster « Plat philippevillain ». Some restaurant even prepare this dish with a tasty vegetable called nettle.
