Center for Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

A word for our english-speaking visitors

Although English is the "official" Internet language, we have chosen to construct this website primarily in Dutch and French, which are the two most spoken languages in Belgium. After all, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) is largely unknown to the medical and paramedical public in Belgium also, and we hope to provide some information that might help change this situation.

However, more and more pages will be translated into english also, and may be of interest to those who to whom French or Dutch is like Chinese: fascinating but extremely cryptic.

Try for instance an article on Carbon Monoxide Intoxication, and read about the data we collected during the period 1992-1995. Or read about the safety of HBOT in the treatment of thermal burns (at least in the Wistar Rat...). We also have a general article that may give a good introduction about HBOT to those who are not necessarily medically skilled (and full of links to relevant scientific references too !).

We've added an article on our research on Patency of the Foramen Ovale in decompression sickness, and a report from a pilot study on sudden deafness - of which we are currently conducting a prospective randomised clinical trial.

If you want to explore further the scientific basis of HBOT, take a step to our bibliography pages, listed by indication (of course not entirely complete, but we do our best...). Finally, our "Links Page" opens the way back up to the Internet, with shortcuts to useful or interesting sites that deal with HBOT.

Enjoy your visit and call again soon - this pages keep evolving !
