This operation happened at the same time as the attack on Taranto. The British ships were sent in the Otranto channel to look for traffic between Italy and Albania. They sighted the convoy at 1:15. The FABRIZI, comanded by the T.V. Giovanni Barbini, went to attack with torpedo and gunfire, while the RAMB III stayed with the convoy. The FABRIZI was heavily damaged and retired towards Valona with 11 dead and 17 wounded. All four merchant ships were sunk. Only RAMB III escaped unharmed.
