U boats attack a British convoy in the North Atlantic. With the increasing role of the Americans in the convoy escorts, the number of incidents with the German submarines spirals up. For the first time, American deads fall when the Kearny is torpedoed while defending the convoy.

ON 24 (Reinforcement for the SC 48 sent after the dipsersion of convoy ON 24): 5 destroyers. Total: 14 destroyers, 10 corvettes, 3 trawlers, 52 merchant ships	13 submarines.
Losses	1 destroyer, 1 corvette, 9 merchant ships lost. 1 destroyer damaged. (51 093 tons of merchant shipping sunk).	-
