Convoy off Pantelleria

[Diagram by types of ship][Diagram by Task Groups]

Start: Friday April 16, 1943

Winner: Italy

The British destroyers sailed from Malta to attack a convoy bound for Tunisia. This time, the escort was able to detect the enemy ships before they opened fire and the attack was repulsed. The Cigno was torpedoed and sunk but, before this, she hit Pakenham so hard that she had to be scuttled by the Paladin next day. The liner arrived safely.
