NorwayOperation "Juno"

Naval raid
[Diagram by Task Groups]

Start: Saturday June 8, 1940

To release the pressure against the isolated garrison of Narvik, the Kriegsmarine launched a diversion raid off northern Norway. After the start of the operation, the Germans realised that the Allies were busy evacuating the area (because of the defeat in Belgium and northen France). So the diversion transformed itself into a hunt against the evacuation convoys. During the operation, the German battlecruisers crossed the way of the British aircraft carrier Glorious
