Code of Colors for the diagrams of battles


As a principle, the ships are depicted as their silhouette on the scale 1 pixel for 1 meter. If the silhouette for a particular ship is not available, it is replaced by a standard silhouette for the type of ship. In this case an asterisk appears on the text when you put the mouse above the silhouette on the diagram. (That a silhouette is not available is pretty rare for larger ships, but more frequent for smaller crafts, below the destroyer).
When a ship had an important conversion during her career, the silhouette may be of the wrong sort at a given date e.g. the Chitose started the war as a seaplane carrier and finished her career in 1944 as an aircraft carrier, with quite another outlook. If you look at the diagram of the battle of Eastern Salomons in 1942, the Chitose is depicted with her silhouette of an aircraft carrier, although she still was an seaplane carrier.
