The lack of range was the fault number one with the
Valentine I. To address the problem, a diesel engine, less powerful but more sober, was installed instead of the gasoline version.
This model saw action for the first time during the operation "Crusader" at the end of 1941. From the next year onwards, it started to replace the Matilda in the frontline units.
