The changes between versions L and M are minors: new air intakes, vision slits and hatches are adapted to increase the wading depth of the machine and to facilitate production.
Produced at a time when the Panzer III can no longer fulfill its antitank function, most Panzer III mod. M will be converted into Sturmgeschütz or into the model N.
Identification: Very similar to the previous model. The exhaust pipes are changed behind the tank to increase wading depth. Tanks of this version were equipped at the factory with armored skirts to protect the running gear.
