Germany Panzer I (Introduction) Germany

Type: Light tankNationality: Germany
Designed as a training tank, the Panzer I was extensively used on the frontline for five years, starting during the Civil War in Spain and ending in the Eastern Front in 1942. Outclassed as combat tank by 1938, it continued its career as reconnaissance vehicle. After 1942, it reverted to original role as a training vehicle.
Many German "first" appeared on the hull of Panzer I: the first command tank, the first tank destroyer, the first self-propelled gun, .... The Panzer I was inexpensive and mobile enough as long as it was not overloaded.
Several of Germany's allies used Panzer I like the Spanish Nationalists, the Hungarians, the Croats .... Chang Kai Check's Chinese acquired a dozen of Panzer I before Germany chose to side with their Japanese enemies.
